Initial Problems

Hi, please excuse ignorance here, I am relatively new to flash and have little coding expertise but have managed to edit other xml files with success.

I am wanting to put the news reader on my site and have uploaded the test folder - but have got no text or images, just the background and the orange box. you can see how it looks here

I am also having problems understanding how to create a new version of it, but don't want to spend too much more time on this if the test won't even work.

Apologies again for inexperience but any help you could give would be gratefully recieved.

Did you upload the test folder or the files within the folder, try taking them out of the folder. Did you FTP the images?

As for creating a new version, you have to rename the images, and to change the colours text within heading etc its all in the data.xml file.

Dont need to touch the flash files. Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the help Kyle, it's starting to makr a little more sense. I think I am stuck at the very first hurdle.

I downloaded the zipfile and then copied 2test and 1source folders and put them into my site folders and uploaded all contents within the file via ftp on dreamweaver. So thats how I have the resulting problem.

I guess I have done something wrong here.

Are you saying I only need to upload the test files but take them out of the folder and upload? I assumed i would need to keep the same filepaths.

Hi mate,

You dont need to upload the source file just the test file! I took them out of the test folder, however I uploaded the img folder with the images in it. As for uploading. I used a FTP program SMartFTP i dunno if you need to do this, or just uploading through dreamweaver. I think through dreamweaver should be fine.

Im a newbie at it too, so dont fear. Took me a bit of playing around to get it right, but it looks good once you do. Good luck
